The opening salvo, a step into AoS28.

The first post of my blog will be a post about my travels into the world of AoS28 (aka. Age of Sigmar, the Dark Age of Sigmar).

You can find out more about it from the 'home' of the project here: ex profundis. But essentially think 'grim-dark' Age of Sigmar revolving around small warbands, with a focus on how you approach the look and field of the miniatures you're using.

There's a lively community for this on Facebook if you search for 'AoS28', and also on the Grand Alliance forum.

As soon as I became aware of this project I knew that I wanted to run a Freeguild warband. Initially this was going to be built around a witch hunter, but this soon changed to a group based around a Lord (Freeguild General) who is leading a group of Relic Hunters. So without further ado, I present to you my warband as is;

So, time for background;

Following the re-emergence of Sigmar and the coming of the stormcast, the city of x found itself reconnected with x. Having been trapped within the walls of the city, many precious artefact and relics once considered lost to the tide of chaos, now seem within reach.

Many of these relics are items of power and the time has come to recover these lost treasures.

Lord x, with the blessing of the city, has built a warband to travel into the world and recover these items of power. Flanked by two greatswords of his own personal retinue, Lord x travels with a warrior priest of the city's temple. The knowledge of the lost treasures is recorded in the temple and the priest's knowledge is invaluable on this quest.

The Priest brings fanatics with him, a pair of flagellants to aid in combat. In order to stave off the taint of chaos during the cities long time lost in the sea of chaos, many went over-zealous with their faith to Sigmar, driving themselves to the brink in their urge to repel chaos. This fanaticism now drives them against their foes, under orders of the priest.

To add to the numbers, the lord has recruited a pair of skilled marksmen from the city's rifle company, and a swordsman from the city's Freeguild swordsmen company.
